St. Patrick’s Tower illuminated in 360 light installation as part of Winter Lights festival.
The Digital Hub is delighted that St. Patrick’s Tower at The Digital Hub campus in the heart of the Liberties area of Dublin 8 is one of the buildings to feature in Dublin City Council’s Winter Lights programme for 2022, which runs until January.
St. Patrick’s Tower is the remnant of a windmill which was constructed in 1757, and rebuilt in 1805. It is 50-feet in height and a copper cupola with a figure of Saint Patrick was added to the tower in the late nineteenth century by Guinness. The windmill stands as an iconic reminder of the industrial heritage of this part of Dublin city and the 360 degree light installation from a team of talented artists is sure to amaze.
A second installation in the Liberties can be seen at the nearby Bridgefoot Street Park.
Every evening, between now and 1st January, a total of 14 locations around the city will be transformed with custom projections and lighting displays.
Projections will illuminate the facades of buildings including City Hall, The Civic Offices, The Custom House, The GPO, The Hugh Lane Gallery, The Mansion House, Covanta Dublin Waste to Energy Plant at Poolbeg and Trinity College.
