The FLUX Sustainability in Fashion Event & Exhibition – 28/5
Join the FLUX Sustainability in Fashion Event and Exhibition on Sunday, May 28th from 1pm-2pm in ‘The Bank’ on James’s Street – The Digital Hub’s brand-new event space.
This event will be hosted by FLUX studio member and slow fashion designer Sharon Sweeney Design. Sharon will open the event with a visual presentation highlighting the effects of fast fashion on the environment. Register via Eventbrite.
Fionnuala Jay, podcaster, writer and content creator will be special guest. Sharon, who co-hosts ‘The Breakup Dress’ podcast, will interview Fionnuala live on stage & discuss Fionnuala’s journey from giving up fast fashion in 2020. They will discuss the process of trying to be a sustainable consumer of fashion, the challenges it presents and some tips and advice they’ve picked up along the way. To finish off the event there will be a variety of short 5-minute talks from advocates of sustainability in fashion including Crumlin Swap Shop, Irish Label Archive, Henny Penny Vintage and more.
Tickets are €5 (+ booking fee) each, and this entry fee will act as a €5 voucher to spend with selected vendors at the We Love Markets flea market at The Digital Hub which will be taking place next door on the day. Voucher valid for selected vintage vendors on the May 28th market only.
In the surrounding gallery space there will also be an exhibition of outfits, jewellery and accessories representing many designers, makers, vintage shops and organisations all flying the flag for sustainability in fashion. This exhibition will be open to the public (no booking required) from Sunday, May 28th 3-5pm and then daily from May 29th – June 2nd, 12-5pm.
